PDFs

I am now on Windows Vista and all of my PDFs whether they are in my outlook
folders or my document folders have been converted to worthless word
documents that cannot be read.

This belongs in a Word or Vista group, and not Outlook.

"converted"?

In Windows, extensions have a primary application associated with them. It
sounds as though your .pdf extension is associated with Word instead of a
..pdf reader, such as Adobe Reader.

Reinstall Adobe Reader; that should take care of the file association.
