PDF Root Object Missing

D

Dr. D.

I have a program called LawnPro which is used to manage a lawn mowing
business. One of it functions is to send estimates and invocies via e-mail.
The program creates an e-mail message and an attached file (attached file is
the estimate in PDF format). It also can create the file for printing (PDF
format). When I try sending the file via e-mail (I am testing the function so
I am creating the e-mail with the attached file on the same system I am
receving it - VISTA Ultimate with Outlook 2007) and try opening the PDF
estimate file, I get "Root Object is Missing". The LawnPro Support folks say
it is a problem with the OUTLOOK when sending the file. I did the following
to see if OUTLOOK is failing.
1) created the file (estimate PDF file) using the Print option of the
LawnPro program.
2) Saved the printed output to a file rather than print.
3) I went into LawnPro and executed the e-mail option. Just to get the
message that goes along within the e-mail.
4) I copied the message to the clipboard.
5) I then went into OUTLOOK and pasted the clipboard message in the body of
the e-mail and ATTACHED the PDF file I saved in step 1.
6) I opend the PDF file after it was attached and it worked.
7) I sent the e-mail to myself to see if OUTLOOK corrupted the file.
8) I recevied the e-mail and opend the e-mail. I saw the message I pasted
and I was able to open the PDF file with no problem.

Anyone have an idea why the file may get corrutped from LawnPro. Any
options I need to set in OUTLOOK. I also tried shutting down my security
software and create the e-mail in LawnPro it still fails.
NOTE: When LawnPro creates the e-mail it does not open the OUTLOOK e-mail
facility. It creates the file under the covers and sends it to the e-mail
address I specify. So I am not sure what LawnPro is doing under the covers.
In OUTLOOK I can see that the e-mail PDF file is at the correct number of
bytes, so I know the data is there but when I try to open the PDF file with
Adobe it fails with the "Root Object...." message.

it is not an outlook error. It may be an adobe / pdf related error but a
quick google doesn't find a solution, only that there are several reports of
the error.
