There is a court form I want to fill out and email to the other party
involved, however, I can fill the form out, but it will not let me save it,
only print it off. Is there a way to get this file saved so I can email
it??? Thanks

It is fairly routine, depending on who is providing the PDF file, that PDFs
can be saved and not printed or printed and cannot be saved (other than PDF
format).
An option is to scan the printed copy - probably can direct to e-mail from
scanner.

You should ask the technical support staff for the program you are using to
fill out the form.

A PDF form is designed to be printed off and filled manually, after which it
can be faxed or scanned and sent as an e-mail attachment..

PDF documents are created in Adobe Acrobat, an expensive program to buy..
the document creator has the option to protect the document from being
changed, so even having the full program would not necessarily facilitate
doing anything with it other than printing it off and completing (as
above)..

What PDF reader and version are you using?

Have you tried any of the various "printer" drivers that produce PDF
files instead of actual hard copy printouts?

What version of Adobe Reader have you been working with Mike? Recent
versions give document authors an OPTION to allow fields to be filled in
electronically with the reader application. Thus people aren't
necessarily limited to filling forms out with their favorite ballpoint.
A little awkward to add a handwritten signature though.

I fill out PDF forms all the time that don't have to be printed and filled
in manually.

I just installed the latest version, and one can indeed type into the
boxes.. unfortunately, one can't save it to a drive.. there is only the
facility to print it out.. Adobe Acrobat would still be required for full
function..

As I said, this is an option that can be set by the document author.
apparently you were using a document which was not configured to allow
copies to be saved with the fields filled out.

IMPORTANT NOTE

DON'T save documents containing personal information on your hard drive.
You might not be able to protect the information if your computer has to
be serviced. Don't even save such files with the intention of deleting
them later. Save these files, INCLUDING data files from tax preparation
software on removable media like floppies, CD-Rs or thumb drives. I did
NOT type personal information onto the form while conducting the test
described below.

I just loaded the US IRS form 1040 for 2004, checked the campaign
contribution box, used "Save AS..." to put a copy with a different name
on the hard drive and reloaded the new file. The file appeared with the
field filled in. I have Adobe Reader version 7.0.8. I have never had
Acrobat loaded on this computer.
