The Park Service allows people to fill out hiking permit applications on line
at their website or to download their Pdf form and then fill it out on your
computer. Following their directions, I downloaded their Pdf form to my
hiking website. It now shows up on line and prints fine. When you are on
line at their site, you can fill out the form and then print the completed
form. On my site now, I can only print the uncompleted form. I can fill out
one line of information on my form on my site, but that disappears when I go
to the next line on the form. Is there some other Adobe Acrobat product I
have to install to be able to also fill and print the form from my site.
Thanks.

Can you provide a link to the form on the Park Service and your site?

Are you talking about the ability within Acrobat itself to fill in online
forms or are you talking about normal HTML forms?

Andrew - This must be an Acrobat form that allows you to either print the
blank form -or- fill out the form online and then print the completed form.

Richard

P.S. how do I post a url as a hyperlink on this discussion page.

Ok, this drove me nuts for a half hour.

They musta been on another planet when they designed that PDF form. The problem is that they used some off the wall Font...Frutieger - Roman or something wacko like that. I couldn't get the entries I made to show, unless I tabbed back to the field - and it wouldnt print either.

Then I went into the field properties (you can only do this if you have Adobe Acrobat - not the reader) and changed the field font properties to a normal font like Courier...and then it will work.

I'm 'guessing' that if you don't have this Fruitygere-Roman on your machine it's relying on embedded fonts or something so you can see it but not print it. Most people (including me,,,are not gonna have this font on their machine...I've never heard of it)

If you need help converting it lemme know.

Richard,

Couldn't access the Park Service form, got a error about it being a expired link.

From the form on your site, I got the following message dialog from Acrobat Reader:

Adobe Reader does not save the data you enter into the form fields. When you've completed this form,
you may be able to submit it for further processing or print it. To save the data ... please
complete the form using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional...instead of Adobe reader.

From my office computer, you can fill out the Park Service form in its
entirety and print the completed form. From my home computer, I can only
print the blank form - I am not able to fill in one line of information on
the form. That information disappears when I go to the next line on my home
computer.
