pdf file not opening from link

Hi -
Hopefully someone can help me with this... I have a PP presentation and want
to link a pdf file. They are both on the root of C on the laptop. The pdf
file opens fine when double clicked - but when I use the PP link, you see a
flash and then nothing happens. I've tested the linking with a word doc in
same location and it open fine. I've tried the PP and pdf file in the same
location on a workstation and it opens fine.
Any idea what might causing the problem with the pdf file on the laptop?
Thanks for any ideas you might have!
By the way, as a work around, if I open the pdf and minimize it before
running PP, it opens fine.....????

Here's where I do my Magic Psychovision Act. I don my turban, press my
fingertips lightly to my closed eyes, concentrate deeply and .... and .....

You have Acrobat Reader 7 and you haven't let it update itself.

Good guess?

The first release of Reader had exactly this problem; fixed in the first round
of updates.
