PCMCIA card slot Type 2 - Texas Instrument PCI-4510 CardBus Contro

Anytime I slide in a card in this slot, my laptop locks up/freezes
immediately. Can't reboot or anything until the card is removed. I've tried
at least 2 known good cards. This started up out of the blue. I've tried
uninstalling the device, but didn't work. I've looked for updated drivers,
but can't find any. I've also check for bent pins, but all looks fine.
Please advise.

Thanks,

Eric

Make and model of notebook? It may indeed be that the PCMCIA port has
failed.

ohhh, yeah, forgot that minor detail. I have a IBM ThinkPad. Model R52.
Windows XP. Yeah, I was afraid of the slot failing altogether even though it
says that it is working properly. Thanks again for the input.
