PCI slots

Anybody hear of of motherboard with a problem like this , PIC slots don't
work but all else is fine. Work fine 6 mouths ago then I lost the S/B Live
card , replaced it with a S/B Extreme gamer. When installed the computer
will not boot past the Bios. Remove the card and all's well Dam's thing I
have ever seen.Been building computer for over 20 years and have never saw
this before. I can use the onboard sound just fine but not the other. Mike
doesn't work with the onboard sound card. some help PLEASE.

It's possible to have blown the power rail to the slots.

Its certainly possible to kill a PCI slot, particularly by
blowing the power supply trace off the motherboard etc.

Can also be something as basic as a dry joint or cracked trace with the socket too.
I can use the onboard sound just fine but not the other. Mike doesn't work with the onboard sound
card.

That may just be that it doesnt provide power for a powered mic.
Try a non powered mic.

If you are into mods, it isnt that hard to add power to the mic socket with
some mic sockets, but its a real hassle getting the motherboard out to do it.

Its also possible to get an adapter that lets you feed power to a powered mic too.

Here's one for ya.My motherboard has 2 PCIe 8x slots and one PCIe 16X
slot.Only one PCIe 8x slot wrks.
