Question, could a PCI slot fail? Hence my graphics card
is pluged into a PCI slot but the card dose not hold the
drivers. Is the card bad or my PCI slot has gone bad.
Also is there a way to check if that PCI slot has gone
bad?

Greg.

Yes, a slot can fail or just be turned off. The drivers are
like any other file, they are on the hard drive and load
when you boot the computer (there may also be firmware that
is in the BIOS on the graphics card. The card could be bad,
the driver files could be corrupt or damaged, or you could
have a bad mobo or a hard drive problem.
You can test much of this with EVEREST from www.lavalys.com,
with the built-in device manager, or by substitution of
parts.

Sure, any hardware component can fail.

Sorry, I don't understand. What does "does not hold the drivers"
mean?

Is the card bad or my PCI slot has gone bad.

*If* there is a hardware problem, it could be either.

Also is there a way to check if that PCI slot has gone
bad?

Plug a different card in the slot and see if it works. Try the
card in another slot or another computer, and see if it works.
