PCI geforce 440 makes my computer freeze right before...

The desktop icons pop up (i see everything before that).
I've reloaded XP on the computer, deleting everything,
but I am afraid to install the drivers again for the
video card for fear that the computer will run into the
same problem. Right now I am working on a computer with a
Sis onboard video system and actually have the PCI 440
installed (where the monitor is now plugged in) but I
have not installed the drivers... last time I did the
blank screen popped up and the computer froze after
showing boot up. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Please help.

Is it possible, because it's a PCI card, that there is a conflict with
another PCI card's IRQ? Do you have another PCI card plugged in and is it in
an adjacent slot? If so and if you have more PCI slots available you could
try moving one of the cards to another slot.
