PCI device Drivers

I've recently installed My XP Home with phone help and the sound does not
work (the speaker is not visible next to the clock). Is this the PCI Device
Driver that's missing? Here are some links to verify:

I doubt anyone can tell without some knowledge of what hardware your system
has.

FWIW, I solved a problem with this same appearance on my fathers Compaq
desktop by downloading and running the manufacturers original sound drivers
for the system. They were around 16 megabytes, as I recall, which was
painful over dialup, but they did the job. If your system is not a name
brand system, but has sound integrated on the motherboard, search on the
model number of the motherboard for drivers.
