PC won't go into standby

a few days ago I installed a new TakRam S3815-ANE motherboard. Its a socket
370 MB with 512 MB ram and a 1000 MHZ PIII. It's running under Win XP Home
Edition. The BIOS Power management Setup has ACPI Enabled and ACPI Suspent
Type set to S3 (STR). Windows XP has the standby option Grayed out, not
allowing me to select it. when I press the sleep button, nothing happens.
How do I correct this so I can go into standby ?

You installed something that does not allow standby. Can you strip to
its bare essentials and try again?
