pc will not shut down

my pc will not shutdown after 1-3 days of being on. it
will get to the blue screen that says windows is shutting
down, and it will just freeze. i have windows xp home.
please help if u can.

It sounds lkke a memory problem, what amount of memory do
you have? If you are running windows on very low memory
then it will hang up, especialy during a hard drive
pursing.
If the problem continues then just hold down on your
power button, if it doesn't shut down, then hold it down
till it shuts off.
Surely the memory would cause this to happen, and if not
do you get a error report?
If you get an error report then try going to
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and
do an update. that should fix your problem.

Press the reset button on your PC. When the Pc is in the

process of a re-boot, press you power off button. Leave
powered down for 5 minutes and power back up. Your normal
shutdown/restart process should work ok now.
