My generic PC has XP Pro. When I try to open a floppy I
used in my old pc w/ Win 98, it keeps asking me if I want
to format this disc which HAS info on it! How can I fix
this? I still have lots of floppies w/ Win 98 and a fe w/
DOS on them!! Help!

See this MSKB article.

Floppy Disk Formats That Are Supported in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=309623

If these disks were formatted in a floppy drive with 3mode drivers, they may
not work in the drive that is installed on the XP system.

If a floppy drive supports reading/writing/formatting of 720K, 1.2MB and
1.44MB floppies (3mode floppy drives) this type of drive is not supported in
XP.

Some 3mode floppy drive drivers may be installed on PCs with Windows XP by
OEMs, although Microsoft does not provide support for 3mode drivers.

Please contact your computers manufacturer if you have any questions on
3mode drivers.
