For some reason I am having the hardest time trying to get sharing to work. I have a DSL Line, 3 PCs on a switch. I just want to map a network drive from one to the other. How do I do that ? I have XP Home, XP Home, and XP Prof.

Thanks

If it is just a switch, not a switch/router, than your PCs may be in
different IP subnets. To check, run CMD on each PC, then in the CMD
window, type IPCONFIG/ALL to find the IPAs. For IPA=a.b.c.d, each PC
should have the same a.b.c, and different d's. If this is the problem,
then talk to your ISP: some IPSs may assign a set of PCs to the
same IP subnet, some won't; if your ISP won't help, then you should
replace the switch with a router and enable its DHCP server to get
your PCs in the same IP subnet. {ICS is an alternative to a router,
but a router is much better and only slightly more expensive.}

If the IPAs are OK, the next most likely problem is firewall software.
Disable ICF on all PCs, since that inhibits F&P sharing on LANs. Also,
remove any other firewall and antivirus software, at least while debugging.

And, there are several other causes of sharing problems; reply back if
the first two aren't causing your problem.
