I have had my PC for a couple of years now (it came with
XP pre-installed) and have had no problems as far as
powering off goes, until now.
Last week, I installed a graphics tablet, and now my PC
won't power off when shutting down. It just sits there
with 'Windows is shutting down' on the screen. I have to
hold the power button in to turn it off. I have tried
looking at the APM settings on 'Power Options' in the
control panel, but there is no APM tab.
Of course, the Graphics tablet could be a red herring, as
my virus checker picked up a trojan horse virus which I
got rid of, and spybot, which I just installed, has picked
up loads of spyware.
Should I uninstall the hardware or restore the system ?
How can I get the APM tab ?
