PC / laptop question

novus

I currently use XP / FP2003 but plan to upgrade to Vista / Expressions Web.
I publish from my PC to a remote ISP. I intend to purchase a new PC and
laptop. I want to use the laptop to publish my site ocassionally when I am
interstate. The majority of the time I will be in the office withh access to
either PC or laptop. I have several questions.

1. Can I use the Microsoft synchronise function to keep keep my FP or
Expressions Web synchronised on both computers or do I need to publish from
one computer to the other each time?

2. Can anyone recommend a working model under these circumstances (eg make
the laptop the web publishing machine and only use the PC for backup?)

3. Is there a newsgroup where it is appropriate to ask general questions
about synchronising and managing hardware using Micosoft products?

Thank you

What I usually do is this;
make sure that before I leave town I publish my most recent copy from the PC
to the server, then when I'm on the road I'll publish from the server down
to the laptop, do whatever I need to on the laptop and publish it back up to
the server. when I return home, publish from the server (which now has the
most recent copy) down to the desktop machine.

to publish from the server to the laptop or desktop just hit file/ open
site, type in the http:// address of the web and publish down to the local
machine in question.

works pretty well.

Questions about software should be asked in the forums/newsgroups
supporting that software - as far as FrontPage is concerned this is the
general question forum/newsgroup. If the question involves hardware
(such as your questions 1 and 2) then it will be answered.

For Expression Web use the expression web forums/newsgroup - the
newsgroup is at
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.expression.webdesigner
and has exactly the same posts as the Expression Web forum on
Microsoft's web site.
