PC is still restarting very badly

I had installed all critical update last week and ever since then I have been having issues getting in Windows XP Pro. When I start up the PC it would reboot right before I see the Windows XP Pro loading screen. Then the selection page comes up asking how I would like to start Windows so I pick NORMALLY but the PC restarts right into that page again to select the option again. The only way it would work is if I select LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG.

Yesterday I did a system restore going back before I installed the updates and reinstalled them one by one. After that I ran SFC /SCANNOW to check for problems. This morning when I turned on the PC the same thing would happen, restart and restart back to selection page but this time when I chose LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG. it just restarted again. Same page comes up I select the same thing and another restart! When the page came up again this time I selected SAFE MOD
I got into SAFE MODE but after I clicked OK on the message that pops up on SAFE MODE the PC restarted before I even had a chance to see the toolbar. So after another restart this time selecting LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG. I was finally abele to load into windows. as soon as it started up a message popped up saying something about the Registry was messed up and reloaded one that’s was saved in a log file

I know I'm not the only one with restarting issues. I just want to know if the developers are going to come up with fixes. What I would really like is if they would just tell us that they are aware of this issue and are working on it

Any help will be GREATLY GREATLY appreciate

It sounds like you have a hardware fault.
Check the memory is plugged in correctly, unplug and refit, if you have 2 x
256M modules remove one and reboot then swap. (or any other memory size)
Be sure you are not overclocking.
Make sure the fan on the processor is working properly and is clean.
Remove or disable add-on cards or functions. i.e. sound, network, USB &
unplug all but necessary hardware.

Can't think of anything else off hand, but I'm sure others will.
best of luck

I forgot to add check your IDE cable are plugged in all the way, perhaps
best to unplug & plug in again.

Thanks for the reply Neil, I have been getting problems from my cpu fan. When I first boot the PC in the Morning the computer says WARNING YOUR CPU FAN IS NOT WORKING! I just reset my PC and it starts working again. I will try to fix it I never thought that could be my main problem this whole time. I will find out.
