I am still have a problem with a few PC's going to sleep and my backup is
failing? Any ideas?
I have set the power options hibernation to never.
Set the sleep in the BIOS to disabled.

Still the backup server can not connect in the middle of the night and the
users have to press the power button on the pc to turn the system on.

Open Control Panel, open Display, go to the Screen Saver tab, click the
Power button under Monitor power. On the Power Schemes tab, set "Turn off
hard disks" and "System standby" to never, click apply and ok.

I'm assuming that the computers are all connected via
ethernet, so my question is: Have you tried to allow the
ethernet cards to wake the computers up?

-Right-click on "My Computer"
-Select "Properties"
-Under the "Hardware" tab, click on "Device Manager"
-Click on the plus sign beside "Network Adapters"
-Right click on the ethernet adaptor that is installed on
your computer and select "Properties"
-Under the "Power Management" tab, place a check mark in
the box that says "Allow this device to bring the
computer out of standby"
- If you want, you can then select the box that
says "Only allow management stations to bring the
computer out of standby"

Hopefully if you do this, then the server will wake the
computers and do the backup.

Just one more thing... the only reason why you would need
to press the power button to wake the computers is if the
computers are truly turned off. Follow the above
procedures, but select the keyboard and mouse instead of
the Network Adaptors. This should allow you to wake the
computer by pressing any key on the keyboard or moving
the mouse.

Hope this helps!

The hard drive and system stand by are both also set to never....Where is
the setting for the ethernet adaptor?

I could be wrong but I think he's referring to "Wake-On-LAN" and the
feature, if it is supported by your setup and the cards is turned on in the
system BIOS. Boot the system, usually, the first screen contains a message
to hit a specific key if you wish to enter setup, that is how you enter the
system BIOS and it differs from system to system so you'll have to look for
it when you boot the system.

Once in, navigate around until you find the above mentioned feature and turn
it on, then save, exit and the system will reboot.
