About once a year i have to renew the battery for my
clock on the taskbar as it fails. I've tried everywhere
for advice without luck.
I'm useing windows 98. Is it a problem that can be
fixed? Would appreciate anyones help. Thanks.

.
Probably not realistically fixable. For some reason, it
seems there's an excessive drain on the battery which
basically is used just for the BIOS and system clock.
There may be a tiny crack somwhere in the system board or
perhaps a leaky capacitor, but trying to track it down may
prove elusive. Are you having any other issues, or is this
the only symptom? Your operating system is not the cause
though.

A motherboard battery should be good for as much as ten years maybe more. I
think you'll have to live with it or replace the motherboard.

Gads, are you buying bad batteries? My battery is over three years
old and is still chugging along just fine!
