PC Clock acting strangely

I called up my PC clock to synchronise something with it and noticed that
every 5 seconds the second hand pauses very briefly. However, overall it
seems to be accurate.
As the PC is only just over 2 years old I doubt the CMOS battery is failing.
Anyone have any ideas about this?

It could be because of low CMOS battery. However, you can check the Time Zone
setting as it could also be the reason. Double-click on Time of your system
tray.
Click Time Zone tab and see if it is set according to your location.

Settings are all OK. As it's not losing time when the PC is off I doubt
the battery is low.
I guess it's easy enough to change it as long as I'm quick. it's the normal
coin-size type (forgot the name, will have to open case).

Thanks David,
Could you explain what you mean?

CMOS battery has nothing to do with timekeeping while machine is running.

What the OP is probably noticing is that every five seconds, the little man
inside the computer has to change hands as he counts out the seconds.

LOL....apparently the little man is doing exactly the same thing in my
neighbour's PC too. I guess it's something I never noticed until now.
