PAYG Broadband?

Is there such a thing as Pay as You Go Broadband in the UK?
A friend wants to connect to the net, but will only be looking at emails & the odd software update.

The cheapest for a set month seems to be Orange @ £14.99 with 2GB download that would be fine, but probably not be beneficial to them as they will be using it so little.
