pausing Avast

I have just installed Avast and can no longer
defrag the hard disk. Does anyone know
how to disable the anti-v so that a disc scan
will run?

Right click the Avast Icon on your Toolbar and the bottom option "Stop on
Access Protection" should do what you require. You will have to Re-Start by
the "On Access" Option

Right-click the "a" and select "Pause provider" ?? JSM.

Thanks for the replies and clues. I had to disable the
resident protection to run defrag.
