Pause in WinXP App.

I am running two XP pro machines with SP1 and I am having a
real problem with one machine pausing in an application. I
am running an Advantage Database application on one peer
and am accessing it off another machine. When only one user
is using the app there is no problem. When a second user
logs on to the app, the app will freeze on the second
computer every two minutes for 15-16 secs. It only happens
to the second user. The vendor is saying it is a networking
issue with XP and if I use any other windows version as the
second client, the pause doesn't happen. Any ideas? This is
a two user software product and we need to have two users
and this pausing is causing big problems.

Sounds like the old 15 sec browsing delay. You could save these keys and
then delete as described below to see if this is the culprit.

Try disabling the NameSpace parameters. Open regedit.exe and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Re
mote Computer\NameSpace and then delete the "Printers" and "Scheduled
Tasks" keys (a bunch of long numbers and letters) under NameSpace. This
will stop Windows Explorer from searching other computers for Scheduled
Tasks and Printers.
