Patches/ A:\ drive unreadable

Installed the patches from
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/default.aspx,
now I cannot read the diskette that was in my A:\ drive!
Could be a coincidence but I need the files. Anyone
suggest a way to recover them?

First thing.. try the floppy in a different PC to see if
it reads
