How often should I apply microsoft patches to my workstation and servers.
What is an industry standard?

The best place to get this information is at Microsoft. This is a public
newsgroup and everyone who posts here trying to help users does so as a
volunteer. Occasionally, Microsoft employees will post, but it is on
their own time and not as official representatives of the company.
Microsoft TechNet is an invaluable source for best practices of
everything you can think of having to do with Windows operating
systems.
