Pasting requires two clicks

Very often whan I try to copy file(s) from one location to another using the
right click context menu, and then pasting them to that new location again
using the paste option in the context menu, it wont work first time. However
a repeated right click and paste is successful.

OS is Vista Ultimate (upgraded from Home Premium using Windows Anytime
Update disk).

Anyone else encountered this?

Thanks

I often find the right click menu is not the correct context
menu for the item I've clicked on, it will always be correct
the second time round.

I've yet to spend any time trying to get to the bottom of
this.

Thanks LoneWolf...implemented these registry keys and Copy to / Move to
behaviour seems consistent and repeatable. So a workaround of sorts.

Cheers

Very basic question. Have you tried this with a different mouse. I have had
to replace a high end, Logitech mouse twice in the last 18 months because of
button problems.

I have other mice that are 6-8 years old that work as if they were just
purchased.

Good thought Richard..given that I use high end logetic mice. However tried
new mouse and repeated problem. Also tried old mouse on XP Machine with no
hitches. One thing I can add...it seems like the problem will always occur
when the 1st cut and paste after a reboot is done. After that the behaviour
is much much better.

I refer you to my response to Richard Urban.

The failure seems consistent and repeatable after a reboot. i.e. the first
copy and paste will generally fail after a reboot. Some sort of
initialisation issue?

You don't for one minute believe anything Urban has to say, do you? Imagine
blaming the mouse for an inability to paste!!! Sometimes these Windoze
Fanboys boggle the mind in their dispensing of FUD. They'll come up with
anything to defend a Microsoft "operating system" and try and lay the blame
elsewhere.

Supplementary information...

I am getting the impression that this is an initialisation issue..This
"workaround" and the original copy and paste issue will fail repeatably on
the first operation after a reboot. After that things seem ok.

In fact this workaround fails in a more spectacular manner by crashing
windows explorer. I am invited to seek a solution or restart explorer.

I will repeat this and provide error log
