pasting problem

I have a macro that is supposed to copy a record and paste it into a
new record but wont paste for some reason.

step 1 Select Record
step 2 copy
step 3 gotorecord "new"
step 4 paste

the form is a continuous form yet the macro won't paste or
pasteappend. Yet when I right click on the actual form i can paste
without any problem.

Can someone suggest what i am doing wrong here???
