Pasting multiline text into a single cell - how?

Nozza

I have some text in a PDF file. The text is split over two lines in
the PDF

The text reads

Candidates should understand the relationship between hardware and
software and be able to define both.

If I copy this from the PDF and paste it into Cell E4 then

E4 holds the value
Candidates should understand the relationship between hardware and

and

E5 holds the value
software and be able to define both.

What I want is the text to be as multiline text in a single cell

When I paste, I have tried using Paste Special / Text and Paste
Special / Unicode

But these just give the same results as a simple paste

I have looked at the Tools/Options/Edit and fiddled. But still no joy

Am using Excel 2002 (10.2614)

Any help, pointers, advice really appreciated.

Many thanks

Have you tried simply pasting into the formula bar whilst you have cell E4
selected?

No!

And it works!

Many thanks. I was sure there was a way around this, but for the life
of me couldn't see it.

I *never* type into the formula bar, I'll have to get used to it!

Pressing the F2 before pasting does the job as well.

Many thanks
