I am needing to know how to paste a formatted word somewhere else in the document. My problem is tat I know when pasting special for an Excel file you click on that but I just want to link the word in one document so when the first instance changes the other one will too. Any help would be appreciated. I am using Word 2002 currently.

Hi swillis324

Let me make sure I understand what you mean. You want to type a word
somewhere in a document. And, elsewhere in the document, you want that word
to appear.

If that's your question, then you can do this. Type your word, then select
it. Insert > Bookmark. Give your bookmark a name (say, MyBookmark).
Elsewhere in the document, type ctrl-F9. Then, type between the brackets
that Word gives you, so it looks like { REF MyBookmark }. Press F9 to
update.

Note that you can't type the {} braces by hand. You must use ctrl-F9 and
type between the braces that Word inserts for you. Once you've typed the
field, use F9 to update it, or ctrl-a F9 to update all fields in the
document.

If you come along later, and want to change the original word (so that it is
reflected elsewhere in the document), you must type within the bookmark that
you created. So it would help to be able to see the bookmark containers. To
do that, Tools > Options > View. In the Show section, tick "Bookmarks".

Note that you're using a field, so it won't update automatically. Ctrl-a,
then F9 will update all fields in the document.

Hope this helps.
