Paste problem in Excel 2000

If I copy a cell, which can contain anything, then Insert
a new worksheet, the past option is not available to me.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

is the other workbook/worksheet protected?

You need to insert the new sheet first, then try copy and pasting

My XL97 and XL2002 allow a copy, insert sheet, then paste.

Perhaps the default insert worksheet is based on SHEET.XLT and has protection
enabled?
