i have had to reinstall xp home. i am being asked for a administrator
password at log in but my supplier of the system who originally installed the
xp software has ceased trading. I have the original disc and 25 digit codes,
is there any way of finding or changing the password? The password hint is
'en' any clues?
help!

Unless you deliberately set the Administrator's password via the
Management Console (_not_ the Control Panel), it's probably still blank.
WinXP Pro asks the installer to set the Administrator's password
during installation, but WinXP Home doesn't.

If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer.

Many thanks. I havent set the password but suspect that the company that i
bought the computer from did so on set up. that company has ceased trading so
i am unable to ask them for the pasword. I am at present unable to get past
the log in. Is there any other way of getting past this point that you know?
many thanks

How could it possibly matter what, if any, password was set by the
original vendor? You said that you've reinstalled the OS, which means
that only *you* could possibly have set the current password.
