password username

A few times a day and/or week many of us when clicking on
send/recieve using Outlook will get the box wanting our
username and/or password for the email account we are
recieving mail thru. The username is almost always there
and is correct. The password is even there (incrpted)
with a check-mark in the box SAVE PASSWORD. We may check
our mail several times in a day with that not happening
then the next time we check email or a few days later; it
will pop up again wanting our email password. I have ran
several virus programs and not one virus found.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

It is because ever since you last changed your password, you forgot to go
into the outlook express properties of your account and change the stored
password; hence: when you click connect it uses the incorrectly stored
password, but when you retype it, you are then entering the correct one!

Then all day long it will use the same one whilst you are logged on, but as
soon as you relog back on the same thing will happen.....

I run into this periodically with one of my accounts, and have assumed it's
just garbled packets during validation. I don't retype my password, click
OK, and it goes through.

This is caused by either the PC running a resource
intensive program or opening several programs at the same
time ie opening mail and explorer at the same time, or by
you network connection being busy. My PC will do the same
thing at times and all I do is tell it to send recieve
again and it will work. Next time it happens open Task
Manager to see what is running .

thanks Graham. what I mean is any password in the system
for any program you are using. not just email. usually
microsoft will give you the option to save username and
password. if you choose "no" it will not prompt you
again and never ask you if you want to save it. I want
to get that back.
