Password - User Name

I have remote access to a computer outside of my office. However, I cannot
log into it because it is asking me for the username and password for the
remote computer (which is my father's). He does not know what username and
password was given to his computer when it was set up. When he goes onto his
computer, he is never asked for a username or password......it goes directly
to the desktop. I use XP, not Vista, so I don't know where to tell him to go
to find the username and password. HELP !

You mean add a user to his computer with a username and password? He'd never
figure out how to do that ! (He's in his 80s)

Have your father open the control panel and go to the "User Accounts and Family Safety" section*
and then the Setup User Accounts. This will most likely display the user name.
Then try a blank password.

*If the control panel does not have "User accounts and Family Safety" group, it may be set in a "classic mode" in which case he goes just to the "User Accounts Icon".

That makes sense, but I need to know a password for my remote access
program, so there must be one somewhere.....or maybe I'm mistaken and it's
actually in the remote program itself. Hmmm......gotta check that out too.
thanks.

Don't be too sure. My mother-in-law is 87 and copes very well with a
Username and Password...

If you use TeamViewer you get an application-generated password each time
you log on.....

And it's free for personal use
