Betty,

You can reset an Administrator password by logging into another account that
has Administrator rights and resetting the password.

You can do this by doing the following:

Start -> Run -> lusrmgr.msc
Click on Users
Right click the account you want to reset and select Set Password.
Create the new password.

Hope this helps.

There are major problems that can be created for you in
XP Pro if you attempt to do this!! Beware! I am unable to
access any account except Administrator -- not the safest
way to be these days. Once you create a new password for
the previous user in XP, you are unable to access any
files created by that user. In XP especially, the
Administrator does not have the powers we've all come to
expect. Proceed cautiously! And make password keys and
backups before doing ANYTHING in XP. There's a lot they
don't tell you until you're way down the rabbit hole,
wishing you took the BLUE pill!
