Hi All

is it possible to password protect a folder in outlook so that the contents
can not be viewed without a password?

You can't password-protect an individual folder, but you can
password-protect your pst file.

Hi Gordon

sorry a follow up question .. i just tried password protecting a pst folder
that i've got showing in my outlook (2003) ... and it didn't seem to do
anything ... even when i closed it & reopened it .. .would you mind giving
me a few details on what password protection of pst folders is supposed to
do?

If you password-protect your pst file, then no-one can open it without the
password, and if you enable a password-protected screen saver, (or lock the
computer with Ctl-Alt-Del if you have W2K or XP) then people can't access
your Outlook when you leave your machine - the only options available I'm
afraid

Did you close and re-open Outlook, or just the pst file?

While Gordon is technically correct, you can approximate protecting a single
folder by creating a new password-protected PST and placing that one folder
in that PST. Thus, to open that PST (and it's one folder), you'll need the
password.
