Password Protected Bulletin/Message Board

Hello,
I would like to create a bulletin/message board where employees can post
messages and files if possible to our website. I would like for this page to
be password protected. Is this something that can be done? Or do I need 3rd
party software?

There are many complete, free apps for securing pages at:

but an easy one is

Just make the final protected page the BB/message board start page.
