Password protect so no one can open w-sheet

I want to make the sheet so that it is not viewable by
anyone but myself.

Is there a method of finding "the" word used? Most approaches find "a"
word that will work. "The" word would be more disturbing bearing in
mind the tendency to use the same password for all sorts of things.

Ah, but if you typically use THE same word, once I find a word that will work
for one, I'll have the word that will work for all.

Hi Dave!

The importance of "the" as opposed to "a" is that finding "the"
password will allow use for a multiplicity of nefarious purposes.
Finding "a" password will only work in the context in which the
password was used.

The "word" found by, for example, the AllInternalPasswords subroutine
will be OK for other worksheets in the file and for other workbooks
with internal protection using the same password. But it won't work
for Workbook opening passwords or VBA passwords because they are
different contexts and use a different algorithm.

What AllInternalPasswords does is find a password that has the same
value in Excel's "internal" password algorithm as the "real" password
has. Change algorithm and "the" password will have a different value
from "a" password and won't work.

Seriously, one trick the JE and I used in AllInternalPasswords was to
find the password for the first protected sheet and then try that on
all other sheets and the (internal) workbook password. That saved
having to start from scratch unless other sheets used different
passwords.

I like that idea. I know I do use the same password to protect different sheets
in a couple of workbooks--but most of my protected worksheets have no
password--a tribute to you and JE!
