I am using frontpage 2003 to manage a website on a server with 2000 extensions.
I was having problems accessing the server button from tools its grayed out.
I sent
a note to my isp about the problem and they reset the server extensions. Now
the
server button is grayed out still and i can't use any of the user id and
passwords setup before to access the website using frontpage. I can only
access it using the
server user id and password. I can still access the website with the old
user id passwords via web browser so the htpassword etc. files are ok. Any
ideas on how to resolve?
Thanks in advance
Mike

Re-installing the extensions, etc. will wipe out any unique permissions setup previously under the
FP extensions for accessing restricted subwebs / sites.

If you can't access the server option on the live/remote site, this would be because your web host
doesn't allow you that level of access for your account, this has nothing really to do with
resetting/re-installing the FP extensions.

Yes i am opening the site from frontpage. I get the window that shows the
local and remote site. I can publish both directions fine. Just the tools
server is grayed
out. I have admin authority for the server so can change permission etc as
needed.
I have an frontpage id setup with admin authority also. Myabe the word is
had.
The thing is i can't get in to check cause its grayed out.

Thats what i thought i asked them a question and they went ahead and did
it.
Looks like they set up the main or origional user id and assigned another
password
to it but not sure what authority that account has. I have full access to
the server
with admin authority can change permissions etc. I know the origional
uid/passwords are still ok and working for web access but not frontpage. So
how do i check or change the permissions if i can't acces with frontpage? I
know i can set
passwords with htpassword but i guess thats seperate from frontpage.
Thanks
Mike

You will need to post to the FP extensions newsgroup or IIS for help with this.
