Ya I used to get the same thing. I'm using OE6 in Win98SE.
Check these places as OE's pretty much the same despite
the version.
First if you use this, in your IE connections's (your
given isp's) dial-up and virtual private network
settings's password entered there in user name even though
my isp (NS) tells me I need not have any IE dial-up' isp
or even a setting for them there, may be true but haven't
removed it to see.
More importantly, check your password from inside your
OE's tools>options>internet accounts, in your e-mail
acct's properties. There in the "server" tab (both all and
mail tabs too), it has a password box and a tick mark box
to "remember password".
Ref. the "server" tab's "all" and "mail", despite "all"
likely sets up "mail" properties as well, I check to see
both properties show all necessary entries.
I've gotten my password saved everywhere but my problem is
that despite my ticking the dial-up dialer's "automatic
connect", it refuses to retain the tick mark, and I most
always have to click "connect" when the popup for dialing
appears when using my IE home address to go online.
Just wondering, but if you use the OE feature for "read
receipts" to confirm the receipient got the e-mail, do
they come back as an e-mail showing only your e-mail's
message and an attachment paperclip that lists
the 'attachment' as something like AT000001.html?
Guess this's supposed to signal the e-mail is the "read
receipt" but the only way I can confirm it is by right
clicking the e-mail and checking it's properties. You'd
think the read receipt would be targeted for attaching to
the parent e-mail right? Plus I don't see any way to even
manually attach the read receipt to the parent e-mail.
Grrr.
