Password Maximum Age

P

Patrick Ruane

I'm trying to set the maximum password age in my sub-
domain. So far I have set the maximum password age in
Default Domain Policy > Computer configuration > windows
settings > account policies > Password policy. This seems
to have no effect on the maximum password age. Can anyone
think why this might occur?

Because that only change the Maximum Age for the particular computer. Try
with Domain Security Policy Console.

Are you setting this on the parent domain? If so, that will ONLY affect the
parent domain. The Account Policy settings are domain specific. GPOs don't
inherit down to child domains. So, you need to modify the Account Policy in
the Default Domain Policy for the child domain to alter that domains'
Password policies.
