Steve

I have 2 XP Pro computers connected on a network. All of a sudden when I try
to access one computer from the other I get an error that says the password
has expired.

There is no password set except for a login password on each computer.
Otherwise no passwords.

I tried to re-map a drive on one computer to the other and this worked for a
while then I got the password expired message a few days later.

How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you for posting!

I assume that both Windows XP Professional computers are not in a domain.
Then, I wonder if the logon name on the two computers are the same. If no,
I wonder if you will be promoted to input User Name and Password. If no,
you must input the User Name and Password before and check the option to
remember password, or you have enabled Guest account.

Let us try the below steps:

1. Click "Start", right click "My Computer"
2. Choose "Manage" from the context menu
3. Expand "System Tools" -> "Local Users and Group" -> "Users"
4. In the left panel, please check if Guest account is enabled
5. Double click the Logon User Name in the right panel
6. Uncheck "Password never expires" option
7. Click "OK" button to apply the settings

I hope that the above information is helpful.

Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards,
