password doesn't take

I have the same problem: I frivolously added a password
in Windows XP Home Edition, and then also made my files
password protected. Immediately (the very first time)I
tried to log in under my administrative privleges, the
password wouldn't take. I am certain that I am typing the
password in correctly, and that my key-board is working
fine. Any suggestions? Or do I now own a personal home
computer, without administrative privleges?
