Password Administrator help

Abi

Ok...so I am having a massive problem!

I have managed to get the Trojan.Brisv.A!inf Virus and to remove it I need
to type in my Administrator password. The problem is that I cannot remember
this at all since setting it up 2 years ago and not using since!!!!!

Anybody got any advice? Rebooting the PC does not reset the password
unfortunately!

Thanks

You don't say how you are trying to remove the problem Trojan!
Why do you have to go into the Admin to remove it?

Try scanning with the 2 Programs below:

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover!
For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from
Download.com, or Major Geeks.com

Download, install, and update.

Important re: Safe Mode
If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On / Startup, and use UP arrow
key to get to Safe Mode from list of options, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with your Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes and Spybot S & D
while in Safe Mode.

If unable to install above Programs in Normal Mode:
Sometimes Trojans, Viruses, Malware, etc stop you installing and/or updating
Programs to remove them.
If that happens, reboot into Safe Mode with Networking (from F8 list of
Startup Options), and install, update and scan from there.

I have Norton 2009 and it found the Trojan yesterday and recommend
downloading one of their files to find it. Having said that it can't find it,
although it told me it is there, but to run the program properly I need to
enter my administrator password.

Thanks

Abi, Norton is not much good for finding Trojans.

BUT, if Norton found it, why would you have to download a file to find it.
Computers work on logic.

Are you sure that it was Norton that found it, and not a rogue Program?

Follow the instructions I gave you to install, update and scan your computer
with the 2 Programs that I have already suggested, and given you links to;
"Malwarebytes", and "Spybot Search & Destroy"..

Thats the problem. The program Norton suggests can't seem to find it although
my Virus alert keeps telling me it's there! However the program wants me to
log in as an administrator...hence where my original password query came from
as I can't remember it.

I have tried the Spybot one and it didn't find it.

I'll try the Malware one as well and hopefully that will.

I have tried the Spybot one and that didn't find it. I will try the Malware
and see if that one has more luck.
I am pretty certain it's come through a media file.

I'm sure the answer is probably no but I know which two files are affected
now with the Trojan, would I get rid of it if I just deleted the infected
files?
