Partition Program

I don't know if this is the place to post this thread so excuse me if this is
the wrong group, I saw none that really applied. I'm running Vista SP1 64bit.

I'm looking for a Free Partition program to partition my external hard drive
into at least 2 partitions. Does anyone know of such a program that's
straight forward without all the bells and whistles? Also, would I set the
partitions as Logical or Primary? Currently the drive is a Primary but if I
partition it into 2 partitions what should they be? Thanks in advance for
any help.

Do you know how to use Google?

Use it to find a link to "EASEUS".

What is wrong with Windows Vista's own Disk Management tools? That will
partition your drive for you.

As for drive partitions Vista will set them both as Primary.

ALL partitioning software, free or shrinkwrapped, can trash your hard drive
no matter how experienced you are.
If you are inexperienced but determined a shrinkwrapped program like
Partition Commander has some safety features which may allow for
reconstruction of your drive in case of disaster.
Most of the time, if you follow instructions, all goes well.
Before you repartition your main hard drive you should back up all your
data.
Unless you are planning to use the new partition for a second operating
system, e.g. Vista SP3/Win7, there is no advantage in any way to doing so
with regard to swap drives, scratch disks, cluster sizes, etc. Although
"experts" recommend separating data files and the OS doing so on different
partitions on the same hard drive, as opposed to separate hard drives, is
hardly safer than one large partition on one hard drive for most users.

Thanks... actually it's an empty external drive I want to divide. Probably
to make one partition about one third and the remainder two thirds with the
smaller being used to ghost my C drive to there. The rest for general use.
In the old days I used Partition Magic which worked well but I didn't want to
purchase 3rd party. Thanks again.

Thanks for the response... it's an empty external drive. I plan on using a
part of it to ghost C: into it's own partition.

Thanks for the feedback... that's what I wanted feedback of a free program
that someone might have used, not thinking of Vista's Disk Management tool.
