Parental Controls and Virtual Public School Sites

I really loved the parental controls until... I discovered my son could not
do all his schoolwork. I have tried editing the controls to allow the
unitedstreaming website, etc. all to no avail. Does anyone have any
suggestions. I have a child that will do what he isn't supposed to with
parental controls turned off but with them turned on he can't do what he is
supposed to. I feel caught between a rock and a hardspot.

For those that don't know unitedstreaming is an educational part of the
Discovery networks and is used extensively by virtual public schools. It
also uses other tools like Brainpop and I don't think that works either. It
seems anything that requires a video to play will not work.

Please help!

At this moment I'm not really sure. The problem I had has gone from bad to
worse and I can do nothing with that computer at the moment. I thought I
would try Advanced Parental Controls. They are highly rated when I checked
them out. I thought I was disabling the parental controls for the "Mom &
Dad" account. Instead the program disabled the "Mom & Dad" account which
happens to be the only administrator account on that computer and was of
course, the account which controlled the program. Now I can not even restore
the computer to a time before the APC program was installed because Vista
asks me for an administrative password but doesn't give me a spot to enter it
because the only administrative account is disabled. I don't even know if it
will let me reimage the computer to the factory settings and if I have to go
that far I can guarantee you one program I won't be purchasing...

Look, if you keep on making a big deal about porn, your kid is gonna
wonder what all the fuss is about and be more determined to view it
than ever!

While that is the Smart answer it does nothing to allay this parents real
concerns. NN please come back and tell me what you did and found difficult
in setting up PCs.
