parent domain

Is there a way to remove a parent domain and only keep
the child domain? Almost everything sits in the child
domain. We would like to go back to one domain, is it
possible?
 
No, because your parent domain is a forest root domain and you can't just
remove it. The only possible way would be creating a new domain and using
ADMT to migrate objects. You could move all objects to parent domain and
remove child domain ?
