Pardon my French...but what the flock?

I have a hyperlink field that points to files on our server, but when I enter
the links (either by copy/paste, drag/drop), the link gets abbreviated so it
looks like this:

...\..\..\..\ISOQMS\Quality Manual\Archive\QM-P-021Rev2.doc

The links work within Access, but not if the records are printed in an rtf
document.

I can manually edit each hyperlink so that it displays the entire link:

\\dellserver\stli\ISOQMS\Quality Manual\Archive\QM-P-021Rev2.doc

I'd rather it didn't do this tho since I am one of the top 10 laziest people
on Earth. Does anyone, anywhere have any %$*%*& idea why it does this? My
monitor is getting really nervous.
