"Parallel port driver service failed to start"

I'm having the same error written to my system event logs
on every boot. here is the error:

"""
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Date: 11/24/2003
Time: 9:33:16 PM
User: N/A
Computer: GALOIS
Description:
The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to
the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is
disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated
with it.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
"""

Following the provided link tells me that there was a
problem with starting a service (duh). Where I'm stuck
is I don't have a "Parallel port driver" service - I
don't even have a parallel port! (hmmm) I have verified
the print spooler service starts automatically.

I'm trying to troubleshoot some intermitant bsods and
would love to make this error message go away. Has any
one dealt with this issue before? Anyone have any
suggestions?

Please let me know if more information would be usefull.
If this is the wrong forum, please let me know!

thanks,

Might be handy if I mention some details about my system:
Dell Inspiron 5100
XP Pro SP1
All critical updates installed.

thanks,
