Hello NG,

in the Printer Environment of Windows 2000/XP the the Paper for is set through a Number.

Here in Germany we use normaly DIN-A4 Paper that is No.9

But i have Matrix Printer with endless Paper 210 x 305 mm that is No.119

On some Computer it is No. 136, 125 or 120 and so on.

In our business Software i have to enter the Paper No. for correct printing. But when a lot of computers have different Paper No. thor the same Paper what becomes verry dificult.

So does someone know where in the REGISTRY the No.'s of the Papers are stored?

I hope someone will help me quickly.

Kind regards

Hallo,

values less than 119 are predefined constants (look in wingdi.h)
other values are driver dependend. So it's possible to get different values
on
different operating systems or when using different drivers (e.g. Microsoft
or HP).
Most microsoft drivers use the same base (miniport) drivers for PCL or
Postscript.
Data like the papers are stored in this case in PPD-Files not in the
registry. But
printer drivers can do what they want. They just deliver a list of number
and papernames.

The function to get the list from the application is
"DrvDeviceCapabilitites" with Values
for DC_PAPERS and DC_PAPERNAMES.
Perhaps you can compare that papernames.
