Hello,
I downloaded and installed the free trial version of
Panda Software's Antivirus Titanium 2004 and restarted
the computer. Now I can not run most executables to
include all of MS Office, CMD, or anything from the
control panel. Internet explorer and MSN messenger seem
uneffected by this however. Most of the time it would
come up with the error message such as Cannot Find the
Rundll32.exe File When You Open Control Panel. But
Windows will also bring up another error message that
would say it could not find whatever executable I was
trying to open. I have read and tried Microsoft Knowledge
Base Article - 812340 which instructed me to:
Put the Windows XP CD ROM disk in the CD ROM drive.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type expand X:\i386\rundll32.ex_ c:\windows\rundll32.exe
in the Open box, where X is the letter of your CD ROM
Drive.
Restart the computer.
However when I tried this windows gave me an error that
stated "expand" was not found. I figured that all it was
trying to do was replace the old and possibly corrupt
rundll32.exe so I borrowed another one from my other
computer with the same OS. I am trying to find a way to
resolve this issue with out having to reinstall windows
and thus losing all of my work information. Any help in
this situation would be greatly appreciated.
